An avulsed tooth occurs when a tooth is completely dislodged from its socket due to trauma, such as:

If treated within 30–60 minutes, there may be a chance to re-implant the natural tooth.

What to Do Immediately If a Tooth Is Knocked Out

If this happens, act fast:

Pick up the tooth by the crown only (not the root)
Do NOT scrub or clean the root
If dirty, gently rinse with milk or saline
Try to place the tooth back into the socket if possible
If not, store it in milk or saliva
Call our office immediately and come in right away
